Typo3 maintenance, even when the LTS clock is ticking.
Your TYPO3 runs B2B portals, multilingual sites or multiple tenants — outages and missed LTS upgrades cost you visibility and security. We keep your installation current, secure and migration-ready: founder-run and cancellable monthly. From €149/month — starting with a free TYPO3 audit.
Forge12 maintains TYPO3 installations at a fixed price from €59/month: core and extension updates, backups, security and monitoring with a guaranteed response time (down to 6h in the Studio plan). Personally managed with a direct line to the founder, cancellable monthly; end-of-life versions only as a bridge to migration.

All features in detail.
Technology & security.
Care & support.
Maintenance, optimization & TYPO3.
Not included (all tiers): larger development / new features, redesign, content creation, full LTS migration / relaunch (Care L supports the planning; the migration itself is project work). Work beyond the included quota runs as extra hours after prior approval (€102/hr) — the response time means the first response, not unlimited work. External and extension license costs are borne by the client.
The real risks.
After LTS end-of-life there are no more security updates.
Every TYPO3 version has a fixed end of support. After that there are no official patches — known vulnerabilities stay open for good, unless you buy costly ELTS extensions. We plan the version switch as a continuous path, not a last-minute jump.
Unmaintained extensions block the next update.
Custom and third-party extensions without care break on the next core update — or quietly open a security hole. The longer they're neglected, the more expensive and risky the later fix. We audit, refactor and document continuously.
An open vulnerability is entry point #1.
Defacement, malware, leaked records — a successful attack hits operations and reputation at once. If personal data is involved, the GDPR clock starts: notify the authority within 72 hours, plus possible fines.
Without a tested backup there's no way back in an emergency.
A failed update or a server crash — and the restore only works if it was tested beforehand. Otherwise: hours to days offline. For B2B portals that means blocked processes and silent revenue loss.
10 languages, 20 dialects — and nobody keeps it all up to date.
Multi-tenant and multilingual setups drift apart without clear workflows: stale translations, inconsistent content, bugs in just one language. We bring structure into the translation pipeline.
Slow pages cost you rankings — gradually.
Stale caches, a grown database, unmaintained extensions: load time creeps up. Google penalises weak Core Web Vitals — the ranking and traffic loss often only shows once the leads dry up.
With maintenance vs. no contract.
Maintenance isn't a cost — it's the insurance against the expensive emergency.
What does TYPO3 downtime cost — and what does maintenance save?
Estimate your yearly risk without ongoing TYPO3 maintenance. It runs live in your browser — no data leaves your machine.
Rough orientation, not a binding quote. Revenue/hour = monthly revenue × 12 ÷ 4,380 active hours (~12 h/day).
Common questions.
01Do you also handle v9 → v13 migrations?
Yes — typically in 1–2 sprints, depending on scope. With redirect mapping and a live switch that doesn't cost you SEO rankings.
02Which hosts?
Mittwald, Hetzner, your own hosting, any serious Composer-capable environment.
03What about custom extensions?
We audit, refactor when needed, document. In the Pro/Studio package small extension tweaks are covered by the support allowance.
04Do you also maintain v8 / v7?
We only keep end-of-life versions alive as a bridge to migration. Long term it's dangerous for your security.
05Can I cancel monthly?
Yes. All maintenance plans are cancellable monthly — no minimum term, no lock-in.
06How fast do you respond in an emergency?
With a fixed response time: email in the Care plan, under 24 h in Pro and under 6 h in Studio, on business days.
07Who looks after my TYPO3?
A dedicated contact with a direct line to the founder — no rotating ticket team that has to start from scratch every time.
08What does TYPO3 maintenance cost?
TYPO3 Care S €149, Care M €349, Care L €590 per month (net), cancellable monthly. For multi-instance/compliance: Enterprise from €990, scaled individually. LTS upgrade support from Care L.
09What is TYPO3 maintenance and what's included?
TYPO3 maintenance is the ongoing technical care of your installation: checked core and extension updates, security scans, tested backups, monitoring and performance care. The exact scope depends on the Care tier (S/M/L). The goal is a site that stays secure, current and ready to migrate at any time.
10What do the TYPO3 LTS versions mean, and when is an upgrade needed?
LTS stands for Long Term Support — a TYPO3 major version with a guaranteed support window for security and bugfix updates. Once that window ends, there are no more patches without a paid ELTS extension. We plan the move to the next LTS in good time, rather than running out of runway just before end of support.
11How secure is TYPO3, and how do you handle security bulletins?
TYPO3 is regarded as a very secure enterprise CMS with a dedicated security team that publishes vulnerabilities in official security bulletins. We track those bulletins continuously and apply security-critical patches promptly — tested on a staging copy first where needed. That keeps the window between disclosure and fix as short as possible.
12Why does TYPO3 need maintenance at all?
Core, extensions and the underlying PHP environment keep evolving — without care they age, open security holes or break at the next upgrade. B2B portals and multilingual sites in particular slowly lose security and performance otherwise. Maintenance keeps the foundation stable and the upgrade path open.
13Do you also look after existing TYPO3 installations?
Yes, that's the normal case. After a TYPO3 audit we take over the version, extensions, backups and monitoring — regardless of which agency originally built the installation. For outdated versions we set out the upgrade path to a current LTS right away.
14What is the difference between TYPO3 maintenance and hosting?
Hosting is the server TYPO3 runs on; maintenance looks after the application on top: updates, security, backups and error fixing. Both are needed — we handle the maintenance and work with your host. On request we also advise on a suitable Composer-capable hosting environment.

TYPO3 maintenance — in brief.
LTS (Long Term Support)
A TYPO3 major version with a guaranteed support window for security and bugfix updates. After end of support, patches are only available via paid ELTS.
Extension
A modular add-on that extends TYPO3 with features — from the TER, via Composer or as a bespoke in-house build.
TypoScript
TYPO3's hierarchical configuration language, used to control output, templates and the behaviour of the website.
Security bulletin
An official security advisory from the TYPO3 security team about a vulnerability in core or an extension — including severity and fix guidance.
Backup & restore
Regular, tested backups of files and database plus a rehearsed restore — the safety net before every upgrade.
Staging environment
A private test copy of the website where updates and major upgrades are verified before they go live.
